My guess is that since it wasnt cutting all the way i was trying to make the cut by moving it a little to the side instead of straight down and that made it brake

In fact the punch will cleanly cut 7 layers of the pillow ticking material

The only wear i am seeing is at the top of the punch where the hammer strikes
