The instruction booklet has some suggested amounts but beware that the instructions are a bit misleading

The tub filled to the brim i assume has a 17 gallon capacity but the maximum suggested fill line is only 1213 gallons so the instructions for 17 gallons in the booklet are a bit high

Theres a little notch on the bottom that the tube fits over and you should also make sure the flared piece they refer to the flared section as the root guard in the manual is pushed all the way down as well
