Don't hesitate to purchase from this seller. I disagree with other reviewers that say to retube it immediately. Anyone wanting to discuss this or tube hifi in general feel free to email dave dot unlimited at gmail dot com.

I bypass the chromecast's native dac (which is actually pretty darn good) via a mini-toslink and optical cable that feeds one of the two dacs i smsl sanscrit 6th 32 bit/192khz or parasound zdac. Fluance turntable and vincent pho 701 pre amp.

Tung sol tubes and also the goldlion 77. Pangea power cord. Tempted to get a quad of the psvane el34b for my st70 now.

Cons

This failure of an amp definately going back. Considering how much this cost, only getting a few months worth of use on it was exremely disappointing.

I was not able to live with the hum as i often listen at low levels and it was too obvious

Being the first tube amp ive owned i cant speak for the quality of the tubes themselves or provide a relative comparison

Competitiveness

Right now im just using an at lp60 turntable but once i upgrade that im confident things will sound even better

I started noticing a 60hz hum when no music was playing or in soft passages

The gemtune x1 is still being broken in with playing time

My vinyl and cds have long been gathering dust and i now exclusively stream tidal hifi via a google chromecast audio
