Pros & Cons
Pros
The uke is well cushioned and does not shift at all inside the case. My uke fits perfectly in it. For simple storage, as i intend to use this for, it's not a problem.
Case fits my kala ka-c concert ukulele fairly well. The case is the right length for my new 8-string ukulele. The banjo pot is quite snug, so the lack of velcro tie down is not an issue.
The upper bout is 6-1/2 wide and the lower bout is 9 wide. The johnson fits perfectly snug, while the old ditson (also1920's) has a bit extra room. The fit on that one is very snug and secure and again, the case is very well-built.
Cons
None of the seams are actually on the corners. They are all proud or shy by around 1/4. The shred is about 14 long.

The case is basically thick styrofoam wrapped in a thin fabric cover which is shockabsorbing but not what i would call hardshell
