I went back and saw this was in the description so this is partially on me but for a 40 breathalyzer i think including the batteries would be a nice touch

It always has a large number of gas impurity absorbed on the surface of alcohol sensor when first time taking out the tester from packaging or after long time no using for the tester it need more time for clearing and wark up the alcohol sensor you should repress the power button and retry several times if possible

Update initially i thought the tester was pretty good but it quickly started to give varying results and then finally the tester stopped registering anything
