Pros & Cons
Pros
Shubb capo noir - 12 string guitar. G7th uses a screw system which you have to set and then simply clamp it in position. No distorted notes and buzzing strings, it works brilliantly. Works right up the fretboard with no buzz whatsoever. Can mimic dadg... Read More
The g7th capo is the best guitar capo i've ever used. Intonation is close to perfection that you can get.
G7th newport works in a similar way to the shubb but feels much lighter yet more sturdy. Lighter, more accurate pressure applied by means of the adjustable control on the bottom. Grip is great, does not leave any string unsqueezed.
This really is a marvellous capo. An excellent british invention perfected by a usa company.
Cons
The newport is marketed as being suitable for heavily stringed instruments. The moveable clamp at the bottom is too small and it sits under the bridge at an angle. The 'compensated'pad on the capo actually causes and worsens the problem it claims to s... Read More

The guitar has quite a thin neck in terms of front to back dimensions and hauser put a very slight radius on his guitars in this period both of which characteristics created problems for my old shubb classical guitar capo and in fact the shubb simply doesnt work on this guitar below the fifth fret

It appears to be a wellmade and nicelyengineered product for those wondering the mechanism this capo uses seems to be an evolution of the shubbtype mechanism but with a slightly more elegant camlever mechanism hidden under the bottom metal housing of the capo
