Pros

The poplar is nice looking and almost without blemish. Overall very satisfied with my purchase. It is rare that i take the time for a review but this one deserves my time.

These frames are well engineered. The way it is designed makes it easy to fold and unfold and it is very sturdy.

With one hand pulling toward me on the back and a leg/knee pushing on the seat, i brought it into position without straining myself. As a couch, it is very comfortable. It fits perfectly with my mozaic mattress.

Even unfinished, the frame is very attractive. Some light sanding with 220 is a good idea. I choose not to stain it, and it looks very nice.

Cons

The wood used is cheap poplar. The finish is relatively rough and has to be sanded (for hours) before it's ready to paint. You will probably be forced to paint the frame and maybe 'antique' it with a glaze.

All the pieces were packaged well and there was no damage from shipping

Packaging/appearance

Rather then put it all back in the box i gorrilla glued it and hope it works

Competitiveness

I recommend using an innerspring mattress for better long term use as we have had both kinds

We already had a 7 innerspring mattress from prior futon which broke

I paired an 8inch mattress with it but i think a 6inch would have been a better fit
