First off understand that this is not a scanner to be used for highend photo scanning

Documents being fed on a color setting may pick up shadows since the electronics pick up all shades of gray as it were

Next if youre scanning color you may want to think about scanning the documents or photograph face up

For some reason the feeder and rollers work better at least on my oneyearold machine at keeping the image next to the glass if youre using the scanning glass that reads the page from above not below
