Overall a good little shelf but not for heavier stuff or kids rooms as it would probably fall over fairly easily if it became unbalanced

I meant it for a small bookcase to put in the corner of my daughters room but the spaces between are indeed too short for most books

The dowels are annoying and the initial putting it together to add the screws was hard but then it all stuck

If i had one quibble it is that one of the board surface edges is not covered by veneer
