It is easy to open for a 6yo child. I also love that it's not too big and bulky. It's small enough to fit in the kids' lunch boxes and yet big enough for a decent sized portion. Comes with a spoon, and it folds up neatly.

Lids are slippery and hard to grip to open. If you don't keep the lid just-so and have the right pressure, then it gets jammed.
