Unfortunately second headphone out has no dedicated channel if you have a second set of monitors attached to output 34 you will need to physically turn off those monitors if you want them to have no sound when using headphone out 2

The scarlett mixcontrol application that you have to run to configure the output settings is extremely nonintuitive so this one sentence may save some time for those in a similar circumstance

If you are having a similar problem with m audio equipment you know that sick feeling you got after casually upgrading to yosemite without compulsively checking all driver compatibilities you can stop looking focusrite appears to be the only choice under 300 dollars

Hopefully tech support will reply next week its all by email however i was impressed by the audio quality of the interface and very happy to be able to hear my music again

Probably there is someway to do it by routing itunes through ableton i need more research
