Pros & Cons

Pros

Accuracy is top-notch. Well made, durable. Dependable quality and accuracy for the trade. If you already owned a fluke dmm this is the perfect purchase.

The 179 is an excellent meter, but just beware of it's limitations in relation to the 87-5. The ergonomic case design and the holster is integrated into the case design make it durable, compact, and easy to work with.

When the meter senses a good stable voltage reading, it beeps and holds that reading. Unlike some other fluke's the yellow part is the actual meter casing, not a cover like on an 87 v.

It has excellent ergonomics, from the smooth rotary switch, to the ultra-fast bar graph response. It also has an ultra- fast continuity beep.

Cons

I know flukes are tough, but there is no reason to leave them unsecured in the box. A sensitive electronic device should not be covered in dust when purchased “new.

Unfortunately this otherwise perfect package has two moderate shortcomings 1st fluke packs a cheap nonflexible set of test leads with it and 2nd the continuity beeper has very low volume and is difficult to hear even in a quiet environment
