The trick put thumb on the assembly and press down while you move it 1/4 to 1/2 clockwise turn. Great product. Highly recommend to even a novice.

Cons

The packaging for this seal says it fits 400 models so you can understand why i expected it to work, but it did not. Next step is to replace the entire fill valve, which i will steer clear of.
