Pros

This book presents many aspects of python that are hard to grasp and explains them, gifting you a deep understanding (fluency) for a fraction of the effort. It even exposes the messy type system of python.

The style is straightforward and clear. Examples are revisited and done again after more sophisticated concepts are reviewed. Has a chapter on and easy way to tackle the embarrassingly parallel challenges.

Only ding is that the async/concurrency part is a bit outdated. The sharing of string literals is an optimization technique called interning.

It touches on details of python internals where they illuminate the behavior and choices a python programmer might make.



Cons

    However some syntax is slightly outdated this is mostly harmless except for the chapter on asyncio in which the modules interface has been integrated into the language with new 34asyncawait34 keywords

    Conceptually it is the same but the examples are not so relevant to how asyncio code is written in newer versions of python

    I finished almost half the book and then picked up python tricks a buffet of awesome python features and am getting more out of it
