Pros

Peace of mind is so gratifying it is hard to describe. I feel so much better having these installed. Not a big deal but was unexpected.

Cons

From day 1 it flashes which drives me nuts at night. Pretty sure they are deliberately programmed to wake up people at 3am randomly. First alert has only a tiny hole for each, so you have to look through the unit rather than at the unit to see them.

Two of these miserable products were installed, one upstairs and one downstairs. Even though they’re hardwired in, they burn through batteries in less than a year. Don't buy any product from first alert/brk.

When battery goes dead the chirp will drive you crazy so loud

They are networked so if one detector goes off they all go off

Then you have to figure out which detector actually sensed smoked or maybe just had too much dust

When 5 detectors go off at the same time get out your earplugs

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

That actually is a good thing because if you had a fire start in a room on one side of the house you will hear the detectors in all other parts of the house as long as they are all the same style of detector

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It looks like first alert bought brk so just make sure if you have old brk unit to match the model numbers

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Seems like these smoke detectors don’t like me cooking

No doubt it’ll save my life but c’mon
