This thing has the ridges for expediting working up a quick rich lather as well as the brush holder on the side. The ridges on tue bottom are a nice touch.
The mouth is wide and the bumps on the bottom makes lathering foam easy. Textured surface develops richer, fuller lather.
The thumb handle provides a secure hold and doubles as a brush rest. Everything about it is fun and convenient. Has a hole for hanging.
Review is from a beginner who was looking to be as inexpensive as possible. Fine products are very affordable and perform flawlessly. They're lightweight, but i've broken two so far.
Cons
Whatever the glaze/coating on this thing is, i am severely allergic to it. Other competitors are more dependable.

I previously was using a small marble bowl for lather and it was a bit too tall and narrow for my metalbase synthetic brush constantly clanking on the sides

The lather is produced faster than on a smooth surface

I am unable to place my brush on the 34holder34 area due to its shape so it often just drops in or sits outside of it

If you already have a bowl that does the job this is a nice upgrade but doesnt do anything you wouldnt expect

Worked ok i guess because it lathered up but was not deep enough to keep much of the lather and obviously it would spill over the side

Well i saw a video on getting better lather for a more reasonable price and the best videos where from the people at fine and others using a 34ribbed34 bottom with just a almond sized amount of shaving cream i purchased stirling barber shop got my brush good and wet and wow did i get a way nicer thick smooth lather which absolutely lead to some of the closest shaves ive ever gotten

When done you simply wash it out and you can even hang on the back of a cabinet door if you want to save space
