Pros
The audio quality is great and the bass boost is perfect. The gain and bass boosts actually add to the music without causing unwanted distortion. Dynamic range and separation are much more pronounced.
No more faint or empty sounding music from my laptop. Software drivers seem to have been improved from previous reviews. It's a definite upgrade from my onboarding sound card.

Cons
Poor mids and high sound quality and blurry bloated bass. If my wire moves the box even by a hair, it would disconnect and then reconnect after couple of seconds.

Also the bass boost does pack a punch without ruining the quality
Build quality is solid too the dial is super satisfying and the bassgain switches are a nice touch
These can barely power my dt 990 250 ohms but can still being ok sounding with the gain switch
It does not imprve a lot on sound quality for sony mdr1a

The issue with fiio e10k was that it had a serious leftright volume imbalance
Competitiveness
Actually a good upgrade from the previous model e10k in terms of sound quality and features
Bought these for my first highend headphones the hd660s and works and sounds great
This new fiio k3 reproduces that same effect as well but leftright volume is perfectly balanced
I use some kz zsn pro iems or sony xm4s and they both sound amazing

Fiio e10k sounded thinner and less refined with my 660s whereas the fiio k3 makes the 660s sound more lush and alive

It must be plugged in to a phonecomputer to be turned on and will draw power from the device it is plugged into

Does rely on usb power so i wouldnt use really high ohm headphones and expect the same results
