Pros & Cons
Pros
The four sided shape is easier to get seated in the wood than my splitting wedges.
This one has a pointy end. Similar to a wood grenade.
Got to splitting them this weekend with this splitter and a maul. I use an 8# maul, and i believe i'm getting the logs (16-20 inch diameter) split with one fewer strike, but ymmv.
Mea culpa, not inferior product. Well worth the $.
Hitting it with an 8# sledge was no problem. Made quick work of even the thickest logs. Used only once but stands up to the sledge hammer.
Cons
Doesn't work in 18 inch hickory or maple. It appears the steel isn’t as tempered!
Highlights
Quality
Not noisy when you hit it and will not get beaten up making it very durable
Solid wedge that splits firewood with relative ease
These wedges are quite heavy and when one hit my foot point down it left a nasty welt even though i wore boots
It died up the process of splitting
Price
It is less expensive than one i had ordered previously
Competitiveness
Probably more powerful hits wouldve split the wood faster

I bought this almost on a lark it was kinda funny looking different from my tried and true conventional wide edge splitting wedge

But i felt i needed a backup in case i buried the one and it appeared to be extra wide at the top which would be nice for finishing off those knarly ones that want to hold together

Well here i am in some particularly irksome silver maple i call em sucker maples for all the sucker branches that wreak havoc on the grain and lo and behold this orange oddball is now my goto wedge

The wide top is nice but its the ease with which it starts in the block that sealed the deal for me

And once its started seems less likely to do a treacherous bounce out with a slightly errant blow

By the way theres a comment in the description about it being not recommended for knotty woods are large diameter hardwoods

My blocks are often 2 feet or more in diameter and if you take your time chip away at the edges first this thing will get it done
