Fate lends itself very well to cinematic and narrative gameplay. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do more storytelling, and less hack'n'slash roleplaying. It's very fast to get into and tends toward a strong story-driven adventure.
Other than aspects, characters have a set of broad skills. Stunts and skills are the only things you need to know about. It encourages narrative and cinematic action play, rather than heavy rules.
Fate core rulebook is probably the best rpg rulebook out there right now. Aspects are usable in almost any rpg. Well indexed and cross-referenced throughout.
It's as much work as you want it to be. But it never feels oversimplified or watered-down. This earns you fate points.
Cons
Fate seems to mix the worst aspects of gurps with a dice mechanic that is the worst i've played in twenty five years of gaming.
