Pros & Cons
Pros
My boys are 6 & 7 and this game suits them perfectly! Our 10 year old loves this game. Only downside is the kids don't pull it off the shelf for return play.
It is suitable for solitaire play or for playing without worrying about score. It is a great game to stimulate the brain with pattern matching.
Another variant if you want to incorporate clockwise/counterclockwise matches is to make the grid 4x4.
Highlights

On thanksgiving i was going to play the solitaire version and ended up playing with my brotherinlaw with the whole family participating

I suggest that you should play the game by adding the challenge rule as well as the wrong call rule explained on the back of the rules paper
