Plastic precludes you from getting an accurate scribe. No barrel holding the pencil that can be removed to accommodate a sharpie. Does not tighten enough to prevent the pencil from moving. Needle is to short.
Molding is trash, but it's the cheapest and you can get by with it. Strangely, the one i purchased has the word pro on the body of it, so i'm a bit confused over what the pro model actually is. The mk 2 is utter trash!
All the hinges are just terribly weak. It gets out of adjustment too easily.
The plastic is thin and brittle, with no resilience whatsoever. It should be made of a higher quality plastic and be thicker. The tool feels flimsy and i'm sure it won't hold up.

The knurled knob that is supposed to lock the angle came with a lock washer—but even when tightened the angle was floppy

I fixed it by throwing out the lock washer and substituting a black neoprene washer from a local hardware store 716” id 1” od fits perfectly

This is a good scribe tool but it is very bulky

While it does the job its advantages over using a regular pencil compass do not really justify the extra expense and in some cases the compass was just easier to use

For example the extra wide back of this scribe is an asset in some cases but in others can just get in the way

That being said its possible to do all your scribing with this tool just didnt find it to be significantly easier or more accurate than a regular compass

Overall if you dont have a great use case that would specifically benefit from it stick to a 3 scribe
