Come to find out they are anchor bolts but the anchor didnt come off like it did in the headboard

It took a friend of mine to look at it and even he figured it out accidently

So we had to unscrew the screw from the anchor bolt and screw the anchor in first then we could screw the screw in and attach the footboard to the side trails

Apparently they weren’t too difficult to put together and having two people do it makes it easier
