The box contains 2 pieces the suction mount and the attachment that holds the phone

There is button on the side that probably activates a spring loaded mechanism to open up the clamp that holds the phone from the side

I normally use a vent mounted magnetic phone holder but it is getting a bit worn out and is not a realistic alternative for this who like keeping their phone without a case

That makes tilting the device a little inconvenient

Perhaps its design for offroading bumpydrive purposes so it the face of the device doesnt come loose
