Pros

Essential kanji teaches you the basic kanjis that people japanese learn until high school. If you are really trying to delve into your kanji, it is an invaluable reference.

Don't trust too much about ethimologies, they are not so accurate, but they are ther to help the reader to memorize. It's wonderfully arranged for ease of use and the perfect size. This is very challenging.

I hate to sound like im just going on a rant but seriously no book or tool should be your only tool in learning kanji

Price

Other then that its a really good book for a cheap price there have been times when i have been able to learn 200 characters in a day

Now not all of you may own a ds but if you do i can say its well worth the 50 to get this game

This book arrived in mint condition even though it was clearly preowned

Lt and comparing this book to many other books on kanji ive seen a pretty big difference in the price

It’s easy to look up unknown kanji and many similar kanji are grouped together for ease of learning

Sadly the kindle market for foreign language material is still woefully inadequate so it was nice to find something portable but extensive

Some kanjis have older versions which can sometimes also be found in japan
