I have been using my plug for the lamp in my living room and its been brilliant to ask my google hub to turn the lamp on or off but you can just use the app too

Without going into a great long rant about it the instructions tell you to install the mihome app on your phone or tablet in order to set the wifi smart plug up

Unfortunately there are two mihome apps on the google play store and silly me chose the wrong one

Id installed the xioami mihome app not the energenie mihome app

As with other webbased wifi devices you have to create an account and go through a process to discover the smart plug and connect it to your router
