I hate to say that i purchased this book almost a year ago and after the first few chapters i put it down and hadnt picked it up again

However the theme does work well for this book and given the history of humanity as told within the book it does seem it could possibly happen if at some point our society totally broke down for whatever reason

I more or less love every type of science fiction book that ringo has written and if you are a fan of his or military science fiction you will not be disapointed by picking up this book and the entire series it kept me enthralled from start to finish

If you compare webers skill sets with asimov for example weber comes out on top

Left me wanting more of what happened after roger took over but that is a weber ringo thing

But the overall arc was well done the action was complete and detailed and the portrait of growth of a dilettante into a strong and serious military leader was spot on
