After going through 2 regular decora onoff switches for our gas fireplace our electrician suggested we hook up a basic thermostat and use it for onoff as the connections in a regular switch dont always work

We had to set it to 80 before it came on and had to manually turn it down to shut the fp off

Seemed that the old one that came with the house had a bad connection to the base could heat it click but wouldnt turn on the fireplace

Simply replaced the front didnt bother replacing the wired in base
