Ours works but is very finicky. I have changed the battery twice and triple checked the wiring. This is just a bad product or a severely failed unit.

Worst * are intermittently unresponsive. This causes the screen to alternately flash l and ff. Are stiff and too close together.

Those should last 25 years before needing replacement they never corrode and they are imperviousness to temperature variations
