Pros & Cons
Pros
This book is so darling. It contains all the letters of the alphabet. Great plot, likeable characters, and a slam bang finish.
I have this quirky love of words that leaves me obsessing with a thesaurus or dictionary. This is a fantastic example of clever, original, writing executed astutely.
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog is an epistolary novel set on a fictional island called nollop, after the man who created the phrase. The story follows the adventures of ella as she tries to save the island from impending doom.
Cons
The novel begins slowly, develops nicely for a brief section over half way through, and degenerates into phonemic gibberish. Finnigan's wake-like nonsense before coming full-circle with a tedious and victorian end.
