The spout instead was at the top and i had to almost completely turn the kettle on end to empty and in doing so would get steam burns on my hands

I will say that the lid stopped closing completely after a few weeks on my first one and so the water would continue to boil until turned off manually not the worst thing but definitely not what i was going for
