The top lens top yellow area of device on top is attached to a clear see thru cup shaped piece that is designed to be taken off and on the main unit see stock photo of bug viewer to see everything fit together

The side lens reflects off of a cleverly mounted mirror inside the main unit and views the bottom of whatever is placed is the viewing area

Soon we learned the right focal distance and were looking at tree branches leaves aphids and other must investigate items around the house and yard by simply using the eye piece like a magnifying glass
