I had a problem attaching it when the boat was out of the water however i did not try getting it wet or cleaning the area first so it kept popping off

I had to almost submerge the cup in water while pushing it onto the kayak once water was squeezed out it seemed like the water helped make a better seal than without where it would almost fall off instantly
