Pros & Cons
Pros
The 3/8 inch hillman is almost an inch in length. This specialty tool made installing the threaded inserts a breeze without issues.
With a socket wrench and a bolt it's easy to put them in crooked. This tool keeps them square while driving and enables effortless driving in hardwoods of all types.
Cons
The blades on the tool are too narrow relative to the insert's slot. In hard oak it strips the slot off the brass insert about 30% of the time. The fit in the e-z knife is 10-24 is loose. It only contacts about half of the driving area on the inserts.... Read More
This thing is worthless. Would not buy again. Very unhappy. Not worth it.
Highlights
Quality
Good quality and does exactly what it claims
Although only the ez lok numbers are mentioned i found this 5005 to work very well with the hellman 3021 3816 brass threaded insert
My impact drill with the 5005 can start up and finish the job outside of flush
My second concern was how to do that with the least amount of effort on my part
Shipping
Seems to be wearing out way fast but still works
Packaging/appearance
I even used my standard 12 drill bit for the holes instead of the 13mm size recommended with no problem whatsoever
This drive allowed me to drill the hole using a drill press and then swap in the the drive without removing the part from the drill press
Competitiveness
Works as intended and much better and reliable than trying to diy
