This heater heats the slab floor in my finished basement, and the rest of the 2 story house nicely. This heats up the entire attic very well and makes a great backup emergency heater.
When it is on and the flame is set at the correct burn level it's produces no smell. Kerosene fumes aren't harmful to breath.
Cons
The wick is obliviously seated to high. It dries out every two times of use. The new one was defected and wouldn't light.
The 55r7 is garbage, and possibly dangerous if used unventilated. Never stopped emitting that awful kerosene odor.

This unit puts out enough heat that i had to open the roof vent to keep the inside temperature under 70 degrees
