Some people complain about being too tight but the batteries can be removed without any trouble by using a small screwdriver. Removal is easy if you use 1 or 2 aa batteries as you can use the void of the 3rd battery to push the other batteries out.
These are a great way to get more amperage when using rechargeable aa batteries. Lets me use aa's in many of my d cell gear. And yes, non-rechargeable aa's work just as well in these too.
Works flawlessly. Works as intended. Works for me. I am very pleased with it.
For the ones that may not know, the reason for this is the milliamp hour rating of the individual cells. Therefor the advantage of using multiple cells in the adapter versus just one.
Cons
Three aa cells working as one d cell is great, but no diodes are integrated is a design flaw. There are no instructions included which would advise the customer what to do and what not to do.

Price
The only real reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price is a little high for what youre getting materialengineeringwise
This allows for much higher amperage for longer lasting batteries
Packaging/appearance
Some reviews have had trouble getting the aa batterys out of the convertors easier to pull out the tip of the post first
If i need to balance the voltages between a high set and low set i just voltage test the 6 batteries and swap one or two of the highlows
Competitiveness
I bought this product to be able to use my supply of aa eneloop rechargeable batteries in a camping lantern that takes 3 d batteries
Great piece of gear for preppers or emergencies
A 34aa34 cell milliamp rating is far less than a 34d34 cell
Twice a week i change the rechargable batteries
