Had a couple of qnaps in the past and they were fine but the interface wasnt great and the fans would fail and need replacing disks always seemed to get hot too

A very competent nas and synology’s software is excellent but for only £50 more if you shop around you can get the ds920 which has a quad core processor and twice as much ram and a sata expansion port

I would say it is about as noisy as your average laptop can be when the fan starts running and of course the particular type of disk will affect noise greatly

If the nas is going to be in a living area then you need to prioritise noise when buying disks

You then enter the address of the nas in your browser and the introductory screen pops up

Its better to select what apps you want rather than to just accept all the stuff synology throws at you
