I think that this second installment is a much better launching point for the rest of the series and the unique quality of the plot may remind readers of the tone of other authors but certainly not the content

Also with two distinct plot lines that diverge and converge smoothly in this second book it was easier to see the adventure unfolding as a larger scale story that could support 4 or 5 books
