Upon plugging it in the temperature warmed up properly and soldered well for the first couple joints then quickly under an hour the tip began to corrode away

When i first used it there was a little bit of smoke that came off of it probably oil or other residue from manufacturing process but that only lasted about 15 seconds

The iron comes with no other tips though it is changeable

This is a 60 watt iron so it is good for mid range of soldering so wires metal parts and transformer nothing delicate like circuit boards
