The outside is almost like a soft silky fiber material so it's not scratchy on your face. It's so soft and plush. It feels comfortable on, but i am still learning the exact tightness to use.
Cons
This is a heavier weight mask that exacerbates the inflammation around a herniated cervical disk. It's usable but barely and i'm hoping the strap stretches out.

The sleep masks that i have worn before have made me feel claustrophobic but this one does not at all

I removed and swapped the velcro patches and then put several tight stitches into the mask where my eyes would be compressing the fabric into itself thereby creating a concave pocket for my eyelashes to move in

I love everything else about it so much i am going to modify the strap closure to eliminate the problem but buyers should be aware of this issue

Maybe others with super plump pillows or smaller heads will not have a problem with the lump in the back but it is a problem for me
