The instructions for the fountain are to replace the filter every 3 weeks or sooner if when youre cleaning the fountain once a week you notice that it contains debris such as pet hair or food particles

I prepped the filter the way that i would the filter for a brita or pur pitcher and have had zero charcoal in my dog and cats dogit fountain

The tip is that prior to using the filter to rinse it by holding it under a medium stream of tap water for approximately 30 seconds and to then place the filter in a bowl of filtered water for 15 minutes

You will probably have to initially submerge it by holding it down in the bowl of water for a second or two until the water molecules replace the air molecules in the filter so that it doesnt just float on the water

After 15 or so minutes just rinse the filter for a few seconds and then its ready for use

Instead of spending this or going without using without a filter you can use tetra whisper unassembled biobag filter cartridges
