The height of the bowl elevates it nicely for my small dog to eat or drink. It's not really very tall, but it helps my senior pups so it’s worth the splurge.
The bow is stainless steel, the base is plastic. Metal bowl is easily washable.
Cons
This bowl is ridiculously tiny, the photos are very misleading. It barely holds enough for a small cat- definitely not 4 cups or whatever it said. Do not buy these for a large breed dog.
Beware. Wasted money. But it's not.
The measurements given are accurate, but nobody's going to look at those and mentally do the math to determine bowl height. Since the bowl sinks inside the container, it only raises the bowl about an inch.

My chihuahua had no problem with the change from a floor bowl
I have large dog who push it around knock it over and basically abuse the product twice a day
Other than that i would highly recommend this product
The large seems like a medium if your dog is bigger then a miniature schnauzer make sure you go with the xl

We would keep the bowl elsewhere but our furbaby is rather messy when he drinks water

The capacity of the small bowl is just enough to accommodate a half cup of kibble plus a dollop of canned food and some water

The total distance raised is not much more than an inch for the smallest sized bowl but its enough for smaller dogs at least this one
