You have to use 1 1/2 pipe which leaves a 3/8 gap. The set screws are barely long enough to reach so you can't tighten them sufficiently. Buy tommy docks hardware instead. Will be sending back.

These brackets are very strong and work great for adding posts to stabilize your pier

I needed a few of these to help stabilize a floating pwc dock and they are working well after about 2mo of use

And they are made of out of adequately thick plating and tubing

The set bolts are a little tough to get in place due to the galvanized coating
