These are great for knife sharpening of all types. When people see how sharp my knife is they ask me * sharpen theirs. I use it with a more course version too to get that sharpness were all looking for.

This one while rated fine is closer to a medium grit in the amount of material it will remove from your knife

The size of the particles may be fine but it cuts very fast so go easy unless your knife is really dull

The main downside of this particular model of dmt diamond plate is that its kinda small

This may be less of an issue for knives which you want sharp but not necessarily perfectly straight so you can get away with an abrasive surface smaller than the knife edge itself

Its not that you cannot sharpen things with water stones or oil stones or even wetdry sandpaper glued to a piece of glass
