Pros
If your ignition is not locked electronically this is a perfect solution to have an extra key. Took it to a locksmith to cut the key and replace the interior items. Go get your key blank cut first before removing programmed chip.
Cons
Don't buy this product. It’s * key and useless. 2/8/22- key detached from the case, lasted only 5 months. Home depot refused to touch it.

I didnt know for sure if there was an electronic device in the fob that had to be programmed just to start the car but i took a chance on this key blank with no electronics for my 2012 scion xd

As it turns out the only function of my factory key fob is to lockunlock the doors remotely and sound a panic alarm

I took my newly acquired key blank with no electronics in it to a local hardware store and they cut it for 1

Also they won’t charge you at all to get the key shaped if you go to home depot
