It didnt seem to require being placed in a certain position over the battery and since theres no way to secure it to the phone i just laid it over the battery and put the cover back on

Without the otterbox cover on my phone i only had to place my phone near the charging pad for it to start charging

One thing i will note i ordered the one that is specifically for a note 4 but i received the universal version microusb instead

The two are completely different and the universal needs to be plugged into the phones charging port see the two different photos above

I probably shouldve returned it but i thought i had just missed noticing the note 4 version also needs to be plugged into charging port and it was only a few days later that i realized i didnt receive the one i ordered

This would be a deal breaker if the charging port on your phone no longer works

On note 4 you have to place the device a bit shifted to be picked up by qi charger
