Just use some glass cleaner whichever one you use is fine since the digital readout has open spaces surrounding the buttons

I solved this issue by first putting a bowl on the scale then resting the plate on the bowl which elevates the rim of the plate enough to read the screen

Most of the time this scale will be fine but a dinner plate would cover the display
