Pros & Cons
Pros
I find this one quite satisfying. Once broken in you can expect to be quite amazed. Reproduction is warm (not overly so) and detailed. But not much else is wrong.
The dl-103r sounds as good or better any cartridge i've put on my linn lp12. I also have an audio technica oc9 ii and it also is more transparent and also costlier. Adding weight at the headshell in a light arm is a must.
It has plenty of treble, just not quite as much air as skinnier shapes of needles. After proper set-up the cartridge sounds open and detailed without harshness. Delivers, an amazing sound stage.
I have mine going into step up transformers from k&k and from there into a fully compatible phono stage from jolida (jd-109) do yourself a favor and buy this cartridge, especially if you already have a phono input capable of handling a moving coil... Read More

Competitiveness
Having gotten back into vinyl in the past five years i started off with a uturn orbit plus turntable with a ortofon om5e cartridge
Id used a dl103 for several years and bought this as an upgrade along with a schiit mani phonostage
I pulled a clearaudio 500 buck cartridge out to test this and i prefer the denon sound
I later upgraded to a teac 550n which comes with what teac calls a audiotechnica at100e equivalent cartridge
