Pros

Internal dac is decent. Playback is a little on the bright side, but i have aseparate equalizer for that. Vintage cds from 37 years ago sound great using this player with a denon 8500ha and klipsch cornwall ivs.

This unit is simple and made to do one thing exceptionally well. If you want to know how many tracks there are on the disk you have to insert the disk without first choosing a track (or pressing ply) other than the cost, you won't be disappointed.

Remote for pma 2000 amp does not affect it at all. They give you a remote but it doesn't reject the cd! This remote is really for someone who has all denon components.

Cons

Denon has a serious qa problem with these players. Isopropyl alcohol on the lens didn't help, either. Error message is simple can't read disc. Don't buy this product.

I was instructed to send the item to a denon service center. Emailed three times and no response. Oh i have to pay for shipping and insurance as denon is not responsible for any shipping damages.

A few nitpicks i am not a fan of remotes for everything

You can purchase five bluray players that also play cds for the cost of the denon
