Pros & Cons
Pros
This is the only humidifier that will do for me. I have an electronic indoor/outdoor thermometer that shows relative humidity. The whole house humidifier pumps out about 3 gallons of water a day into a 1500 sq ft house during the fall and winter.
The cover is held in place by the strings. They have other sizes for other stringed instruments, including violins and cellos, etc. Only issue you will have is the sound hole attachment.

Cons
Instructions seem like they are written for an older model. There is no clip at the top of the dampit to attach it to the guitar strings. The humidifier is very large and there isn't really any way to install it without it touching the guitar.
There is no humidity indicator on the sound hole cover. The included humidity indicator card is ambiguous. I assume then that you have made an accomodation with amazon whereby you cheapened the device so as to sell it at the lower price amazon offers.... Read More

Packaging/appearance
Just run it under the sink for a couple seconds and wipe off the excess water and youre good to go
Competitiveness
Fits perfect in my gibson es330 f hole
Use it to humidify my acoustic guitar
I think thats an user error thing more than a design issue
Again go online and read up on humidifying instruments

If you have your action set low you may be better off to also buy a rubber soundhole feedback suppressor and poke a hole in the middle of it for your humidifier to hang from
