Diy moldable whitening trays are easy to use. Not as thin as a retainer, but these aren't meant to be worn as long. They work for diy teeth whitening pretty well.
Boil some water in a cup. Submerge in hot water for 15-30 seconds. Then remove from your mouth and repeat.

20 on a dentek mouthguard which came with only 1 piece and didnt work at all for my purposes

All you have to do is let the water boil then turn if off and just barely dip in the teeth molds for just a few seconds and then pull out and put in your mouth
